About Scott

Scott is a 15-year pro of the integrated marketing and communications field, specializing in digital and social media strategy.  In December 2022, Scott joined the communications team at the University of Chicago as Assistant Director of Digital Marketing Innovation.  At this role, Scott oversees social media marketing, data reporting and podcast publicity for the UChicago’s brand marketing podcast, Big Brains

Prior to this role, Scott was the marketing manager for McCormick Place/ASM Global where he managed digital communication strategy for the Nation’s largest convention center and oversaw the facility’s website content strategy. 

Scott first joined McCormick Place in the corporate communications department for the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, then owner and operator of Navy Pier, the midwest’s top leisure tourist destination, and McCormick Place. During his tenure at the MPEA, Scott championed for the initial social media strategy for the both facilities, which today continues to be an integral component of their external communication programs.

Scott began his career working for a public relations agency where he assisted a variety of accounts in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors.

WordPress and Blogging Creds:

In 2008, Scott starting his first blog, CountryMusicChicago.com. Utilizing his journalism degree, publicity tactics, and photography skills, Scott managed to build a community from scratch that quickly became known as a local resource for fans. Along this journey, he became enamored with WordPress, a website content management system, and digital marketing tactics such as search engine strategy and content marketing. He realized that when combined, these tools can be very powerful for not only building blogs but also for marketing businesses online.

In 2010, Scott launched Front & Social which provides blogging strategy for those looking to use WordPress and search engine strategy to promote their products or ideas. Today, through his efforts, Scott has assisted many entrepreneurs to launch blogs and podcasts as well as consulted popular blog sites through various and meetups workshops.
